By downloading, accessing, or using Roast Monkey (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.

1) Apple EULA and these Terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, your use of the App is also governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a custom license agreement is presented in App Store Connect.

These Terms supplement the Apple license agreement and cover areas not included in the standard agreement, such as habit tracking features, roast content, and subscription terms. If there’s a conflict, the Apple agreement controls for the parts it covers.

2) Who we are (and who Apple is not)

These Terms are an agreement between you and Vertex Studios. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and Apple has no obligation to provide support for the App beyond what the App Store requires.

3) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old or the minimum age required in your country to use the App. If you’re under the age of majority, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.

Roast Monkey contains mild sarcasm, comedic insults, and adult-oriented humor delivered by an animated monkey character. The content is intended for users who enjoy lighthearted, irreverent humor. If that’s not for you, please don’t install the App.

4) What the App does

Roast Monkey is a habit tracker. You create habits, set schedules, and check in when you complete them. When you miss a habit, the App displays a humorous “roast” message from an animated monkey character to motivate you to do better.

Roast messages are pre-written by Vertex Studios and selected on your device. They are intended as comedy, not as personal commentary, professional advice, or genuine criticism.

You are responsible for the habits you choose to track and how you respond to the App’s messages.

5) Roast content and how to read it

a) Comedy, not criticism

Roast messages are sarcastic, exaggerated, and generic by design. They are not a judgment of you as a person and are not based on personal information beyond which habit you missed.

b) Adjust the tone

The App may offer settings to adjust the intensity or style of roast messages. If a particular tone doesn’t work for you, change the setting or stop using the App.

c) Not a mental health tool

Roast Monkey is entertainment, not a mental health, medical, or therapeutic service. If you are struggling with self-criticism, eating habits, exercise compulsion, or your mental health, please use a different tool and consult a qualified professional.

6) Your habit data

The habits you create, your schedules, and your check-in history are stored locally on your device. You can edit or delete this data at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored content.

We do not collect personal information from users beyond what is necessary to process payments and provide aggregate performance analytics through Apple. More details are in our Privacy Policy.

7) Acceptable use rules

You agree not to use the App to:

Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or extract roast content for redistribution
Disrupt, exploit, or interfere with the App, its servers, or its security
Circumvent subscription paywalls, abuse rate limits, or misuse the service
Use the App in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation
Use the App if you are below the minimum age in your jurisdiction

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms.

8) Subscriptions and billing (Apple App Store)

If the App offers paid features through auto-renewable subscriptions or one-time in-app purchases, the following applies:

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device.
Prices and durations are shown on the paywall/in the App Store purchase flow and may vary by country/region.

Free trials

If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a trial may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription where applicable under Apple’s rules.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and processes.

9) Notifications

If you grant notification permission, the App will deliver local reminders for the habits you have scheduled, including roast messages when you miss them. Notifications are generated and scheduled on your device. You can disable or customize notifications at any time in your device’s Settings or in the App.

10) Intellectual property

The App, including the Roast Monkey character, artwork, animations, sound, music, and roast text content, is owned by Vertex Studios Ltd or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

11) No professional advice

The App is for entertainment and motivation. It does not provide medical, mental health, fitness, nutrition, legal, financial, or professional advice. If you need professional help, consult a qualified expert.

12) Disclaimers

The App and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t guarantee:

that any habit, reminder, or roast feature will improve your behavior or outcomes
uninterrupted or error-free operation
that the App will be suitable for every user or every situation

Use the App in a way that supports your wellbeing. If a feature isn’t a good fit for you, stop using it.

13) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vertex Studios will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the App.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by applicable law.

14) Changes, suspension, and termination

We may update the App, modify features, change roast content, or discontinue parts of the service at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

you violate these Terms, or
it’s required for safety, security, or legal reasons.

15) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change, and the updated Terms will be posted on this page. Continued use after updates means you accept the updated Terms.

16) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless your local consumer protection laws require otherwise.
